Tammy looks humiliated having to wear this garb. She
was the 2006 Texas Grand Champion Senior Cow (if you are into that
sort of thing). At 32" tall, she was among my smallest cows.
Tammy has been sold.
A 34" gray cow with lyre shaped horns that are very
popular, and an unusually large hump for a cow. Bulls generally have
a much larger hump than cows. Gray is my favorite
mini zebu color, becoming blue in winter and near white in summer.
This tiny red heifer should also turn gray as she ages (I hope). She
is bred to Diablo for a 2012 calf..
I consider this cow the most beautiful in my herd.
She's nearly solid black with great conformation. She has produced
some great calves including Sugar on the calf page. Raven is 33"
tall.
This 33" cow has everything a zebu should
have.....as well as outstanding horns & hump. She throws really nice
calves regularly. She is bred to Diablo for a 2012 calf.
These cows used to be mine, but they now live in
California. Lily, the "large" gray is a 7 year old cow, but only 30"
tall! The black&white is a three year old (unreal!) and gorgeous.
The little gray in the rear is nearly two years old! She was 18"
tall when she was 14 months old, the smallest zebu I've ever seen,
and probably THE smallest in the world! All three are outstanding.
Miniature Zebu cows have highly developed maternal
instincts and make excellent mothers. They are slower to develop
than regular sized cattle and usually do not breed until about 18
months of age, compared to normal sized cattle that breed at about
12 months of age. They are very fertile and produce plenty of milk
for the growing calf.
